FIVE STICKERS = A NEW BOOK!

So everyone wants to know: how is Bella doing with her big girl bed?

OK.

Actually, a little better than OK. We resorted to creative bribery last week when I drew up this nifty prize chart for Bella. For each night she stays in her bed all night long, she gets a sticker. She then puts that sticker on the chart and when she collected five of them - which took seven days - she got to go to the bookstore and pick out a new book (and get frozen yogurt down the street). We were pretty amazed and pleased to see Bella immediately understand the concept, counting the squares on the chart and talking about the five sticker prizes. At the end of 25 nights in her bed, she gets a movie. That's her big goal.

We also sweetened the deal by taking her to get a mini donut at Dancing Goats (her favorite coffee shop) too. She still gets up some during the night, and has spent some time in her parents' bed. But we explain to her that she will not get a new sticker if she does. I guess bribery has its limits, most notably between 3 and 6 a.m.

That's great. We introduced a chore chart (see Millie's blog) and she still needs some coaxing but her room is clean now b/c of it.

Great job Bella! I think some bribery is okay. And she's learning in the process so many things.
