FACES AND PEOPLE

At her great grandmother's funeral earlier this year, Bella started drawing faces in her sketchbook. We had never seen her do that before, and she drew a lot of them in the book. For the next few weeks, she drew more and more faces. They started as mostly two circles for eyes with dots in the middle, little circles on the sides for ears, and a line for a mouth. Sometimes she added a line for a nose, and others for hands/arms and legs/feet. Here's an example:

In the past month or two, she has started a new chapter in her people and face drawing. So I thought I'd share a few of the recent drawings with you and one of the original drawings.

The last one is of a "butterfly." The one before is a picture of our family with the addition of her friend Sophia and a baby.

HER FIRST FILM

Been a while, but here's a doozy. Not long after we got one of those Flip video camera, it ended up in Bella's hands. And it ended up in her hands pretty much anytime we left it sitting around within her reach. What we have here is footage she shot herself over the course of several months in two locations. You hear her parents offering camera instructions at first, but later she's got the hang of it and the pacing picks up. Enjoy!
