On Friday night, we visited Cousin David and Mark's house and had some great food and wine. Bella and her mom and aunt checked out early (for the adults and late for the toddler), and her dad and uncle hung out long enough to try some West Virginia apple moonshine. Yum!
On Saturday, Fred and Jo Lynne Wood came by for a cookout and brought Bella a puzzle and Duck Duck, the stuffed animal. Later on, her Uncle Cousin Marsh and Jill and their girls, Grace and Madison, came by as well. Bella had a great time playing with Grace most of the day (and vice versa) while her dad and uncle sat around with Big Marsh drinking ice cold beer.
On Sunday, Bella took her parents and Uncle Reid for a stroll around the Capitol.
Bella had a good time beating the heat by playing in the fountain across from the contemporary art museum. Her mom held her hand most of the time to make sure she didn't walk into the geysers of water.
Bella was too tired to stay awake to see the new addition to the National Portrait Gallery: a undulating roof for the courtyard by some architect named Hanson. There was a large choral group inside singing the weirdest version of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" I ever hope to hear. Seriously.
It was nearly 100 degrees on Sunday when we all decided to walk around the Mall area. It was a very pretty day, Bella saw two squirrels and several doggies, but near the end of the adventure needed a frozen fruit pop for an extra burst of energy to make it to a Mediterranean restaurant for hummus and baba ganoush.

She's a well-traveled child. And that frozen fruit bar looked mighty delicious!!! And we all know that Aunt Rebecca loves ice cream!
Oh-h, the pic of Jen holding Bella's hand at the water sprays is absolutely adorable! Look at her little tippy-toes! Too cute.
